XM foreign exchange market: On January 10, the US dollar index rose to 110.18 points, setting a new high in more than two years. On April 21, the US dollar index hit a low of 97.91, a cumulative decline of 11.14% www.xmserving.compared to the high in January, hitting a new low in the past three years. In more than three months, the US dollar index has gone from a two-year high to a three-year low, which caught market participants off guard. From macro factors, after Trump entered the White House, he issued a series of radical policies, which seriously affected the international status of the United States, reduced the attractiveness of the US dollar, and eventually led to the US index from a bull market cycle to a bear market cycle.

Trump's radical policies not only impact market confidence, but also indirectly affect the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions. The above chart is the superposition of the US dollar index and the Federal Reserve interest rate curve. From the perspective of medium- and long-term trends, the resonance characteristics of the two are significant. From December 2016 to January 2018, the US dollar index continued to fall, while the Federal Reserve continued to raise interest rates during the same period. This period happened to be the first year of US President Trump's first term. At that time, Trump also announced very radical policies, which led to the US index's trend relying more on the policy side rather than on the interest rate trend. Trump's second term led to the same phenomenon: the US index and interest rate trend diverge. There is uncertainty in Trump's policy and it is impossible to make a reliable forward. According to Trump's logic of adhering to radical foreign policy, it is difficult for the US dollar index to re-establish the 100 integer mark, and it may even continue to fall below the 90 mark. On the other hand, Trump frequently questioned the problems in the work of Federal Reserve Chairman Powell in public and urged the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates as soon as possible. If Powell restarts interest rate cuts under pressure, it will be even more difficult for the US dollar index to reach the 100 mark.
